PREVIOUS WORK HISTORY:
I have 19 years experience in Welding and Engineering Supplies with Welding Distributors including 10 years with a BOC Agent, included also in this is 2 years work experience with an Engineering company working on site at various cement plants, chemical plant and manufacturing companies installing machinery etc.
I have also worked for 17 years with Lancashire Fire & Rescue Service starting as a fire fighter and worked my way through the ranks to Watch Manager in 2005, I left the fire service when I started with BOC.
WHY DID I APPLY TO BOC:
I was looking for a new job, and was fortunate enough to hear of a possible position at BOC which I knew I could do.
MAIN JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist with the day to day running of a Gas & Gear Centre, work closely as a team with customer care and service, continue and help improve high levels of customer service, satisfaction, care and safety for them and all at the BOC site.
THE MOST EXCITING THING ABOUT MY ROLE:
I may not say exciting, but the role of assistant has its challenges, which is enjoyable. Taking on a task for a customer and resolving their problems or queries on the technical side is a great reward, not only is the customer satisfied, but you also learn something too. I’m a rare breed of person who enjoys their work whatever I’m doing. The work is varied too, no two days are the same, which also makes the role enjoyable.
WHERE COULD YOU SEE YOUR CAREER GOING?:
I would like to pursue a career in SHEQ,, I feel I have a good background which will assist me in this role, I would like to come out of the retail side of the business due to spending so long with it, I feel a change of direction would be a good step, I enjoy all aspects of work, and would also enjoy a move into the Hard Goods team.
WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT BOC?:
BOC was BOC was always a company I hoped to work for, I met one of the BOC Managers many years ago and he always asked when I would come to BOC! Now I am with the company the opportunities are endless, and that is what I like about the BOC, the opportunity to better yourself with their help within an organisation as large and diverse is a great advantage to enjoying work and working.
