CARE range – Hydrocarbons
BOC’s CARE range of hydrocarbon refrigerants include CARE 10 (R-600a), CARE 30, CARE 40 (R-290) CARE 45 (R-1270) and CARE 50. They:
- Offer minimal environmental impact, excellent thermodynamic properties and cost-effective refrigerant performance.
- Are single products or mixtures of hydrocarbons, isobutane, ethane, propylene and propane, which are classified as:
- Zero ODP (Ozone Depletion Potential)
- Minimal GWP (Global Warming Potential
- Can be used in most applications including: air-conditioning, domestic fridges (Greenfreeze technology), retail and hospitality drinks cabinets, factories, offices and supermarkets.
- Are available in a range of cylinders to suit all applications, from mini disposable cylinders to 46 kg cylinders. They can also be supplied in bulk.
- Are available in over 20 countries.
Ammonia (R717)
Ammonia has a low boiling point and is favoured because it is a highly energy efficient refrigerant which also has minimal environmental impact. Our R717 refrigerant:
- Is environmentally friendly, being classified as:
- Zero ODP (Ozone Depletion Potential)
- Zero GWP (Global Warming Potential)
- Can be used in a wide range of refrigeration applications including: thermal storage systems, HVAC chillers, process cooling and air-conditioning, food processing, supermarkets.
- Is available in a range of cylinders and drum tanks to suit all applications.
R744 - Refrigerant grade CO2
Used as a refrigerant since 1850, R-744 is now regaining popularity due to its low environmental impact. Our R-744 refrigerant:
- Is environmentally friendly, being classified as:
- Zero ODP (Ozone Depletion Potential)
- Minimal (1) GWP (Global Warming Potential)
- Has excellent thermodynamic properties and low energy usage making it suitable for a range of applications:
- industrial heat extraction.
- chilled warehousing.
- shipping vessels.
- commercial refrigeration.
- mobile air conditioning.
- R-744 is often used as a secondary refigerant along with ammonia, opening up new applications where ammonia as a single stage refrigerant would not be applicable.
- Carbon dioxide is often used directly in food freezing and chilling applications, for example as:
- Dry ice snow to provide optimum ingredient viscosity and handling characteristics in chilled blenders.
- Dry ice for in-transit refrigeration.
- A cryogenic liquid as an alternative to liquid nitrogen in food freezing.
Chlorine and fluorine containing refrigerants
HCFC range
These refrigerants, which include R22, R-123, R-401A, R-401B, R-402A, R-402B, R-409A and R-416A are gradually being phased out because of their negative environmental impact. They are categorised as:
- Low ODP (Ozone Depletion Potential)
- High GWP (Global Warming Potential)
HFC range
These refrigerants, which include R-134a, R-152a, R-404A, R-407C, R-410A, R-507, R-508A/B, R-413A, R-417A, R-422A, R-423A, R-424A are subject to control in some countries because of their negative environmental impact. They are categorised as:
- Zero ODP (Ozone Depletion Potential)
- Lower GWP (Global Warming Potential)
R134a+UV
R-134a+UV is a specialist product that contains a unique and patented ultra-violet (UV) dye that enables fast leak detection with the use of a UV lamp. It decreases the time and cost associated with servicing mobile air conditioning systems.
Cryogenic gases
We supply carbon dioxide and Nitrogen for cryogenic chilling and freezing processes.
